For years, Starbucks has been my go-to coffee shop. As much as I’d like to explore other cafés out there, I’d still find myself stuck with SB, perhaps because it’s almost everywhere.

Green tea latte, cold brewed, white chocolate latte and green tea frappe are my favorites. These are what I usually order, just the typical drinks on the menu. However, lately I’ve been obsessing over their Iced Shaken Black Tea with Ruby Grapefruit and Honey. It’s part of their Teavana handcrafted beverages, together with Iced Shaken Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls, and Matcha and Espresso Fusion.

Among these Instgram-worthy drinks, their Iced Shaken Black Tea with Ruby Grapefruit and Honey is the one that has captured my heart. The bold taste of the black tea was perfectly balanced out by honey and pomelo bits and zest. This one’s truly refreshing; best to enjoy on a humid day.

Budget Tip: Go for a small size, either tall or grande. When you’re about to finish your drink but still want more, ask the barista for a cup of ice and add it on your drink. It would still taste the same like it was first served. I believe it’s because the grapefruit zest is indeed rich and pure. Thus, no need to order a bigger size, simply maximize its citrus flavor by adding some ice.

Have you tried any of the Teavana handcrafted beverages? Let me know your thoughts about it. Comment them down below! :)

For everyone who haven’t tried thrift shopping yet or were too afraid to even try, I strongly suggest you should at least once in your life. Believe it or not but you can really find pieces that don’t look cheap at all. You just need to have keen eyes for details and at times some DIY skills to make it look more stylish.

Here I got a pair of highwaist jeans which I brought from a thrift shop in Cubao. I forgot the name of the shop but just in case you are not aware, there are actually a lot of thrift shops in Cubao. So I bought this together with a gray-ish cardigan and the two items only cost me PHP 45.Yes! Two items for as low as PHP 45. I’m not sure which one cost PHP 15 and which is PHP 30. I think this jeans is PHP 30 but who cares anyway? Both are too cheap.

However, this pair of jeans is not skinny since it’s also very rare to find skinny jeans in thrift shops. I considered that a sad thing especially because I’m not into wearing straight-cut or flare jeans. Instead of crying over it, what I did is I cut it into shorts. This isn’t new to me since I’m into DIY stuff. I simply used an ordinary pair of scissors and cut each side diagonally, then folding the excess. It’s hard to explain but here’s a photo of me wearing the my DIY highwaist shorts:

If you're running a blog or a website, you should know that having a refined page is just as important as the content you are delivering to your audience. Think of it like Instagram, wherein the first step to attracting followers is by giving them cohesive and aesthetically pleasing visuals.

But bear in mind that having an awesome-looking page and maintaining the consistency of the design style are two different things.

Let me introduce to you a brand board, which is a great way to start, whether you're a personal brand or a business brand.

brand-board-for-personal-branding

It basically contains design elements such as a logo, fonts, colours, patterns/textures and even content ideas.

Treat it as a design guide, which you could always refer to whenever you make a new content or create additional sections in your site, making sure that everything looks put-together.

You'll see here the brand board I created for myself. It really has made things a lot easier for me. :)

re-launch blog thru branding

re-launch blog thru branding

Third month of the quarantine and it feels like I time-traveled to when I just graduated from college: at home, spending most of my time in front of a computer.

Lately, my afternoons and nights are mostly spent on finding a new blog theme, modifying html codes, doing layouts and working on some content ideas.

If you're also managing your own website all by yourself, you probably know that deciding the overall aesthetic and vibe of your site is not that easy; even harder for indecisive ones, like me.

The overall new look of my site came to life with the help of a brand board, which I created myself.

On my next post, I'll be sharing with you what a brand board is and how it has helped me re-design my website easier and more efficiently.

For those of you who do not know, the no make up look does not literally mean zero make up on one’s face. This make up trend simply refers to looking fresh and natural by applying a minimal or light make up. Usually, it is the preferred everyday make up look of college students or even young professionals like me.

Personally, I love how it doesn’t take too much of my time especially when I’m running late or too lazy to explore what’s in my make up stash. Also, it’s low maintenance. Doing some retouch in the middle of the day won’t be too much of a work. Plus, I don’t have to carry my whole make up bag whenever I’m out with this look.

Here’s how to achieve a fresh no make up look in 5 easy steps!

  • Start off by washing your face. Regardless what make up look you’d planning to pull off, you should ALWAYS start with a clean face.
  • Moisturize your face (my favorite part).
  • Apply a primer but in my case, I usually skip this and go right away with applying foundation.
  • Do your brows. (You could skip this one too if you’re too lazy, not in the mood or just blessed enough to have a natural on-fleek brows.)
  • Lastly, apply a lip-stain on both your cheeks and lips.

Tadaaaa! You’re done and ready to go! :) What I have shared with you is the simplest way to achieve a fresh “no make up” make up. But for a a fresher and more dewy look, you may want to apply a little bit of highlighter on the highest part of your cheeks. I would also recommend using a facial mist like Evian facial spray to finish it all up. This would enable your make up to last long and would hydrate your face as well.

The products that I used for this are: Olay All-In-One Fairness Cream as my moisturizer; Maybelline White Superfresh in the shade of Natural for my foundation; and AT_Organics lippen in the shade of Rose for my cheeks and lip.

It’s been ages since the last time I’ve written a blog post, and I know I shouldn’t wait for my 24th birthday or any special event in my life to finally start writing again. But here I am, back at it with hopes that I’ll be able to continuously share more either on the blog or vlog from this day on. 😊

For my 24th birthday I actually had no definite plan despite having a lot in mind ---- romantic birthday dinner with my beau, night-out with friends, simple celebration with my family or a quick getaway to either Baguio or La Union. Until 2 days before my birthday, I had finally decided to have a KTV night with my high school friends, which we had done last year only this time it’s at a different venue. 😉 Luckily, despite the short notice I was still able to get a reservation and sent invites to my friends right away.

Now onto the day of my birthday, Anthony and I were supposed to go to Binondo to explore some Chinese food that morning. But the weather’s been unpredictable lately and we couldn’t risk the possibility of exploring Binondo on a rainy day. Instead, we got on our feet on the way to Trinoma to finally … finally, buy a new camera. Yay! We were supposed to do it the night before but I was having second thoughts because it’s going to be another expense on my end.  But you know what? It’s actually one of the best gifts I’ve given myself. I used it during our KTV night and it was so so good! Oh, by the way, it’s the Sony A6400.

Back to the story, we had a pretty big room last night, unlike last year’s. As always, I’m grateful to have my OG friends to celebrate my birthday with, and I’m glad that my girlfriends were able to bring their partners along with them too. Our group barely hangout together with THE boyfriends, so it’s pretty nice that this happens.

It was a fun night that I honestly didn’t noticed it was already 4 in the morning, until my friends started talking about going home. Haha. At the same time, I was so sleepy that I’ve even slept in the taxi while we’re on our way home. But this whole night-out shebang didn’t end there yet. As we all know, there’s always the after-party hangover, which could be terrible at times. As for me, it’s not bad but there’s this hangover, indeed. Yikes!

I woke up with an irritating headache and a need to get all of the alcohol (and food) out of my tummy. My biggest fault is I didn’t do some water therapy during and even after all this drinking. Uh oh! So, for half of the day, I focused on nothing but cure my hangover. I even had to cancel with my friend as we were supposed to have our ears pierced. Good thing, by throwing it all up, eating a soup, drinking lots of water and having a nice afternoon nap; I felt better around 2pm and even get myself an ice cream. Thank God grab food exists! Lol.

I’ll end this by saying that I’m officially 24 years old! I truly appreciate all my friends and of course, my family. I like birthdays because it reminds me of the people who really matters in my life. Call me sentimental but I treasure all those birthday greeting, especially those sent via private message; it just means that these people have taken time to at least leave a message. 😊

If you could remove one step from the basic skincare routine what would it be?

If this question popped a few years back, I'd probably answer: skipping toner. I neglected toners for years due to my bad experience with it when I was a teenager. Back then I had been using a toner from a local brand and it was an everyday torture on my face. It never failed to leave a slight burning sensation on my face which is no good at all. The only thing that I like about it is the satisfying feeling that I get whenever I see dirt on the cotton balls.

This year as I start to take care of my skin more, I've vowed to give toners another try. Only this time, I want to ensure that I'll be using alcohol-free ones so as to not irritate my skin. Although I found the perfect one for me (included on my Quarterly Empties), I still want to try out other options. That's when I had given this Clarifying Toner from SKIN by John Robert Powers a try.

Known as a learning institution, John Robert Powers has now extended its brand to cater to skincare needs by creating its own beauty line called SKIN. I bought their Clarifying Toner from BeautyMNL and it was delivered to my doorstep the next day. This particular toner suits normal to oily skin, which I have, whereas their Hydrating Toner is good for dry skin. What made me buy it is the written "non-comedogenic" and "hypo-allergenic" claims on the packaging. Non-comedogenic means it won't likely clog your pores, while hypo-allergenic means reducing possible allergic response.

Now, let me share with you my thoughts about it. As soon as the product arrived, I tried it right away that night and discovered that it is not alcohol-free. As disappointed as I got, I still pushed through the application which only took me back to my teenage years. That slight tingling sensation is back, evident by the hint of an alcohol through the smell of it. To think that it costs about PHP 349.00 (for 200ml), I honestly felt like I have wasted my money on this one.

I also observed the following:
  • When I tried pouring a minimal amount on my hands to pat on my face, I noticed that it can be drying on the skin. If it makes my hands feel dry what more could it possibly do to my face if I use it more often, right?
  • The burning sensation feels worse when you have acne or pimples on your face.
  • Using toners with alcohol in it makes the whole healing process of an acne or a pimple slower.
Apparently, I'm not liking this product. It's a 0.5/5 for me. Spare me but I got to give a 0.5 score for the pink packaging. 😆 Maybe if they do more research on the ingredients, this product could have a potential. Also, I won't feel guilty for spending money if only it does wonders on my face and sans the burning sensation.

Well, that's it for now. Drop by again next time for another honest review. Feel free to share your thoughts on the comment section. 💖

As someone who was born with quite a fair complexion, keeping up with it has been a struggle. To think that I'm not wearing sunscreen on a daily basis and with everyday sun exposure, I'm obviously just adding more to my problem of uneven skin tone. But probably I'm not the only one as dark spots have always been a common problem for women especially for Filipinas like us who often find ourselves under the sun. Good thing there’s Pynocare - the first ever, safe and effective oral de-pigmentation capsule.

The best part? It is 100% natural. Manufactured by MegaLife Sciences, a renowned Thai beauty pharmaceuticals company, Pynocare is a dermatologist-proven effective to combat dark spots or melasma. If you haven't heard of Melasma, it is a kind of dark spots which are skin-deep and most commonly caused by sun exposure as UV rays trigger overproduction of the melanin levels in the skin. It can also be caused by hormonal imbalance and harsh cosmetics. But whatever may be the cause of our dark spots, it's good to know we can combat it all with Pynocare. 😊

Additionally, Pynocare contains MSCC Complex (Melasma Skin Clear Complexion) which is a patented combination of powerful antioxidants specially formulated to address dark spots at its root cause and other damaging free radicals.  Each capsule is packed with vitamins and nutrients that are good for your skin such as Betacarotene and Ascorbic acid. By taking it 2x a day after meals, you’ll see results in as early as two months. Pynocare retails for only  1355 pesos per box with 20 capsules in it and is available in all leading drugstores nationwide.

****Caution: Pynocare is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women and those under 18 years old. ****

Hi everyone! 😊 First off, welcome to my official site. Finally, Pattypavia.com has come to life! I'm excited and hopeful for this passion project of mine, and I do hope you'll love all the posts I have stored for you. **fingers crossed. hihi** 😁 To start off, here's my honest review of Nature Republic's mask sheets in Orange and Shea Butter variants.

Let's start with the brand itself. Nature Republic is a South Korean beauty brand, which is best known here in the Philippines for its aloe vera products. I visited their store at Venice Grand Canal Mall in Mckinley Hill where I was happy to be well-assisted by their staff. Since I'm not into the aloe vera craze, I simply did a quick glance at these products until my eyes fixated to the brand's wide collection of their Real Nature Mask Sheets. Choosing what to get was hard but after a few minutes, I decided to go for the Orange and the Shea Butter sheet masks.

I choose the Orange variant because it is packed with Vitamin C, which I learned helps in brightening the skin. I just don't like the odd citrus smell of it. I'm imagining an orange juice mixed with lots of water, which apparently evident through its watery consistency as compared to the Shea Butter variant which is thicker. I also preferred the Shea Butter because it doesn't have a dull smell and I could really use up all its rich essence. As stated on the packaging, the Shea Butter sheet mask will nourish the skin with a luminous glow. Sounds good, right?

Nature Republic's facial sheet masks, in general, seem to tear up easily. Based on my experience, you really need to carefully unfold them. Can you plese let me know on the comment section if you guys also experience tearing these sheets when unfolding them? (or is it only me? haha) Nonetheless, what I love most about their facial sheet masks is the abundant amount of essence in each pack. This is freaking amazing! If you have tried using cheaper sheet masks, you'll know what I'm talking about. But basically, Nature Republic is giving us a generous amount of essence we all deserve. So better squeeze those packs to get the most essence out of it.

Overall, I'm going to rate this as 8/10. And oh, you could also buy these from Landmark stores for only 55 PHP each. 😉

I'm thinking of trying out other Nature Republic's Real Nature Mask Sheets and do a part two review of it. What do you think? Let me know in the comment section. Until the next blog, see yaaah! ♡

To be honest, I’m not really into body care products. In fact, I rarely apply lotion especially during summer because I totally hate that sticky feeling. Surprisingly I found myself addicted to Bath & Body Works’ body cream and body lotion. These are now my personal favorites, and not even summer can make me resist it.

My sister sent me these products which she brought abroad. I absolutely have no idea what’s the difference between a body cream and a body lotion. I think it’s just the same. haha. Oh well, I don’t know but anyway I tried first the Bath & Body Works’ Shea & Vitamin E body Lotion in Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin. I’ve been using this for 5 months now and I swear, it smells so gooooooood. According to the packaging it promises to leave skin feeling soft, smooth and nourished which I have to agree with! :)

The other product is Bath & Body Works’ Ultra Shea Body Cream in Pearberry. Ever since I start using this, I got confused on what should I really apply to my skin. I super love both products and I cannot simply choose between the two. But I’ll try to compare them based on their features. So let’s see …

The body lotion in Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin provides 16 hours of moisture and it is infused with Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Aloe and Vitamin B5. Meanwhile, the body cream in Pearberry provides 24 hours of moisture and is infused with ultra-rich Shea Butter, Aloe Butter and Cocoa Butter.

Like I said I got addicted to these products especially to its fragrance. I don’t even need to use perfume because I’m already satisfied by merely applying body cream/lotion on my skin. Still not convince? Well, just look at how happy I am on those photos. haha.
Bath & Body Works is also available in the Philippines. FYI, it’s not a sponsored post. I just love these products so much that I want to share how good it is.

Take it from me, a first time domestic flyer! ;)

I had never traveled to any Philippine destination via plane before. Earlier this year was actually my first. I had experience going on an international flight and I honestly didn’t expect that travelling in the Philippines could be so fulfilling and exciting. Also this is my first trip wherein I wasn’t accompanied by any of my family.

Last March, I traveled with A for a very short yet memorable trip to the “Queen City of the South” — Cebu. Everything went well except for the return flight, which I’ll tell you everything about of in a different blog post. For now I’d like to share with you some tips and useful information all about domestic flights in the Philippines, hoping that these could help you especially the first-time flyers out there.

*We traveled via Cebu Pacific hence some information I’ll be sharing are somehow aligned to their travel guidelines.*

You don’t need to have a passport

This seems unnecessary to say but for those who aren’t aware, a Filipino citizen who’s booking a domestic flight does not need a passport to travel the Philippines. You could however use it, if you have, to present it as a valid ID upon checking-in and before boarding the plane.

Check-in counters for domestic flight opens 2 hours prior your scheduled flight

It is advisable to arrive at the airport at least 3-4 hours before your flight’s take off. You won’t be allowed to board the plane if you arrived after the check-in counter closes, which is 45 minutes prior to departure. Take into consideration things like the traffic and the possible long queue at the check-in counters.

**Guidelines for international flight could differ

Baggage allowance varies between airlines

Check with your airline to know more about this.

Terminal Fee is included in the ticket price

Whether you booked a promo or regular-priced ticket, the terminal fee is already included in it.

Check-in online

I swear by this because this would make your whole flight experience better. You could check in thru your airlines’ website or mobile app. For (Cebu Pacific) domestic flight, you could check-in online 7 days up to 1 hour before your flight schedule. Checking-in online would save you time because you don’t need to line up at the check-in counter, unless you want to check in additional baggage you have missed.

Bring a valid ID and your itinerary receipt

You have to be able to present at least one valid ID and a copy of your itinerary receipt. The itinerary receipt would be sent to your email by your airline upon booking and paying for your flight successfully.

My number 1 tip is to do a web check-in. Web check-ins would provide you an online copy of your boarding pass. You could either print this or have it screenshot on your phone but I highly recommend to have it printed. Then once you arrived at the airport, you don’t have to queue at the check-in counters. You could already proceed to your designated Boarding Gate. Easy right?

Hope these things would help you on your first domestic flight! If you have any questions or want to add some tips and other useful information, comment them down below or message me! :)
